7 Nights: an honest guide to sleeping better
Including what to expect if you try CBD — and what not to
One change per night, for seven nights. Each takes a few minutes, and you can start tonight.
What to expect from CBD, honestly. Many people notice nothing from CBD in the first week. That's common, and it isn't a failure. What moves the needle for most people are the habits. That's why this guide is about habits first. If you try CBD, it's one step of the routine, not the routine.
Talk to a doctor before trying CBD if…
- You're pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You take any prescription medication. CBD can interact with some medicines, so ask your doctor or pharmacist first.
- You have liver problems.
- You're subject to drug testing. Some CBD products contain trace amounts of THC.
This guide isn't written for children or teenagers.
See a doctor, not a guide, if…
- Someone has noticed you snore loudly, stop breathing or gasp in your sleep.
- You're so sleepy during the day that it's hard to stay alert while driving or working.
- You've had trouble sleeping most nights for more than a few weeks.
- Poor sleep comes with low mood or worry that's affecting your life.
Night 1 · Pick your wake-up time
Choose one time to get up and keep it all seven days, weekends included. A steady wake-up time is what your body sets its clock by. Tonight, just write down when you went to bed and how you slept. That's your starting point.
Night 2 · Dim the last hour
An hour before bed, lower the lights and put your phone away from the bed. Bright light late in the evening tells your body it's still daytime.
